A day-in-the-life of an Apollo Project Coordinator

The Apollo Projects team is comprised of talented individuals in a wide variety of roles. From design manager to systems and IT to marketing and business development to site managers, everyone at Apollo plays an important part in our success. Some of the critical team members working behind-the-scenes keep our projects on track for success: our project coordinators.

To find out more about what a Project Coordinator role involves, we caught up with our Senior Project Coordinator, Carolyn, and Project Coordinators around Aotearoa, Caitlin-Rose, Freya, and Michele.

“Being a Project Coordinator has allowed me to be involved in every stage of the project life cycle,” says Caitlin-Rose. “I’m there for design meetings, pre-acceptance catch-ups, and the PCG (Project Control Group) meetings. It’s cool being there every step of the way. I really feel like I’ve watched the project come to life!”.

When it comes to the day-to-day life of a Project Coordinator, “no day is the same. Every day is different,” says Caitlin-Rose. “I love the flexibility of not sitting in an office all day.”

“My days are filled with such a variety of tasks, you’re always learning”, agrees Michele.

For many, the Project Coordinator role is the first step into construction. “I never thought I’d end up in construction, but I’m so glad I have,” says Caitlin-Rose. “It can be a hard industry to get a foot in, but as a Project Coordinator I oversee the whole project and I’m there every step of the way. It’s helped me get a clear idea of where I fit in construction. I’m now working towards becoming a Project Manager.”

Senior Project Coordinator, Carolyn says that she thoroughly enjoys providing oversight, guidance and helping to support this growth. “I love watching our fantastic project coordinators build confidence, learn new skills and really make the position their own.”

Freya agrees that the opportunities and growth provided within the role are a fantastic drawcard. “It’s allowed me to travel New Zealand and be involved in some of our countries most valued industry projects. I have made amazing friends and feel valued and appreciated.” While she hasn’t been in her position long, Michele agrees that the comradery among the Apollo team, is a fantastic part of her role. “The Project and Construction managers are all easy to get along with. We have a lot of fun!”

With Apollo recruiting for a variety of Project Coordinator roles across the country, now is a fantastic time to consider becoming a part of our amazing team. For more information, check out our careers page
