Apollo Appointed as Foster Park Indoor Courts Contractor

Apollo Projects is proud to have been named the contractor for Selwyn District Council’s indoor courts project at Foster Park.

This exciting project will meet the growing need for indoor sports facilities in Selwyn. Apollo’s innovative design includes a 240-metre indoor jogging track on the mezzanine level, eight courts – four spring timber courts and four specialised surface courts for multi-use – along with solar panels that will generate up to 80 per cent of the expected summer power consumption.

One of the highlights of this project is the interactive playground that can turn any gym into an immersive video game through lights, sounds, and videos.

The council approved a $21.5 million budget for the project and Apollo’s design and build expertise allowed for an incredible facility for the community while adhering to budget.

“We’ve taken the approach that this is a community facility and our emphasis has been to provide as much indoor space with good quality courts for community use”, says Council Major Projects manager John Reid. “That’s meant we’re getting this eight-court facility for the same price or less than many facilities half its size that have been constructed in recent years around New Zealand”.

Construction is planned to begin in early November and expected to be completed in time for the winter 2021 sports season.
