Happy Anniversary Meredith!

At Apollo, we value our people as much as we value any construction project. This week we are celebrating a team member who has shown fantastic growth and leadership throughout her time with Apollo. Starting off as an Executive Assistant to our directors, then moving to HR Manager, now she is our General Manager of Corporate Services. Join us in celebrating Meredith Hulme for reaching 10 years with Apollo.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I have a gorgeous four year old daughter and an amazing supportive husband, I’m passionate about thriving while being a mum and having a career and how they integrate. I recharge and fill my cup by being around my friends and family. I love summer, and my favourite time of year is when we get to go camping at the beautiful Totaranui. The beach, walks, and time to disconnect from the real world is amazing. I have a love/hate relationship with exercise and am currently in my love stage enjoying some HITT workouts for the mind and body. Finally, I am partial to good food, and a wine or gin!

What is your favourite thing about working at Apollo?

The people, the laughs, the support, the variety, the challenges and the connections!

What advice would you give to someone thinking about getting into the construction industry?

Do it, jump right in, be curious, ask the stupid questions. I knew nothing about construction when joining Apollo, and still love coming to work each day to learn something new. It’s a great industry to be a part of, and you get to be involved in some pretty special projects that impact the community and leave a lasting legacy.

What has kept you at Apollo for the last 10 years?

  • The leadership and mentoring from our directors Paul Lloyd and Craig Waghorn, the foundations and values they have built the business on and are so passionate about (even when at times they have admittedly driven me mad)!
  • I know it's cliché but it genuinely is the team - past and present, I have been so fortunate to work with amazing people who have taught me so much.
  • The laughter, the banter, the fun - this is well and truly the heart and soul of Apollo and makes tough days so much easier.

What is your proudest moment over the last 10 years?

Being a part of the growth, when I started, we had 25 employees, now we are at 90, it’s been a privilege to have played a part in the Apollo story for the last 10 years.

Can you name some key learnings about yourself professionally over the last decade?

Embrace change, be comfortable pivoting, don’t sweat the small stuff, and always lead with empathy and kindness especially in the face of adversity. Never underestimate the power of a great team.
