Taiora QEII Takes Home Property Industry Award!

We are delighted to announce that our Taiora QEII Recreation and Sport Centre project won the best in category Tourism and Leisure Property Award at the 2019 Property Council New Zealand’s Industry Awards on Friday, 14th June.

The awards recognise property projects, developments, or substantive refurbishments that provide an outstanding return and/or delivery of service potential on investment of funds.

“We are especially proud to receive The Holmes Consulting Group Tourism and Leisure Property Award for QEII,” said Paul Lloyd, CEO, Apollo Projects. “This was a mammoth project for Apollo and one we were thrilled to bring back to the Christchurch community.”

The $38.6 million centre was built to replace some of the sport and aquatic facilities lost when the original earthquake-damaged QEII centre was demolished. Taiora QEII Recreation and Sport centre was designed with input from the community. It includes a 25-metre lap pool with a moveable floor, leisure pool that includes a lazy river, learn-to-swim-pool, 130-metre-long hydroslide, hydrotherapy pool, spa, sauna, and steam room. In addition, QEII has a fitness centre, café, meeting rooms, and free parking for 200 vehicles and 160 bicycles.

Taiora QEII Recreation and Sport Centre officially opened on 31 May 2018, ahead of schedule and under budget.
