Happy Anniversary "Wuza"!

Warren (Wuza) Blackwood recently celebrated his 5-year anniversary with Apollo Projects, so we sat down with him to ask a few questions about his time at Apollo!

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I'm currently working hard to bridge the gap between my fitness levels in my 20s and mid 50s, with a healthy dose of naps and recovery.

My career in constuction has taken me across various projects, from beachfront properties in NZ and the USA, to high-profile builds like $30m homes, auditoriums, soundstages, the US embassy, high-rises, and even Ray Columbus's house, where we often sang "She's a Mod."

What is your favourite thing about working at Apollo?

I love that our owners are always leading the way and setting the pace for us.

What was the first project you worked on at Apollo?

My first project at Apollo was Fonterra's "Project Manuka" in South Taranaki.

What is your proudest moment over the last five years?

Project Manuka stands out as a proud moment. The hard work to keep it moving, with 280 personnel onsite for two years, was incredible. Another proud moment was Project Fonterra Stirling, where we achieved our complex program despite challenging circumstances.

A key learning about yourself professionally over the last five years.

I've learned not to push the boat out too much and to save it for an actual boat.

Currently, Wuza is Site Manager for our Christchurch Engine Centre Strenghthening works project. He is extremely hard working and will always put a smile on your face. Congrats Wuza, we absolutely love having you as part of the team!
