Synlait Milk Ltd’s desire to develop the ‘World’s Best’ Infant Formula Blending and Canning facility led to the appointment of Apollo Projects as Project and Construction Managers.
Apollo was part of the early design process under an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) model and this allowed considerable influence over the facility design and detailing – which is undoubtedly world-class.
Apollo’s approach to challenging the status quo has led to significant innovation and change to design processes and hygiene detailing that has been used in the dairy industry for 20 years. The design team, engaged by Apollo, embraced the opportunity to set new industry benchmarks but without adding cost – and this has been achieved. The end result is stunning.
The facility includes a five-level blending tower and adjacent cannery with a variety of specialist hygiene areas including a bag stripping area, bag tipping room, canning room, laboratory, re-closure room, changing areas and viewing gallery for clients.
